Course aims
To assist students in acquiring new conducting techniques. To introduce new technical skills in choral conducting and enhance techniques in playing choral scores on the piano according to the repertoire listed.
Brief description of the course
Conducting techniques: enhancing skills acquired in the second semester; broken and divided beat. Conducting combined meters. Conducting with both hands. Singing voice parts and playing choral scores. Formal analysis and interpretation of songs. Working with choral scores: using combined techniques in singing voice parts. Enhancing practical knowledge through playing choral scores. Independent work with the 5 songs listed in the student’s course programme.
Learning outcomes in the course
Upon completing the course the student:
- The student can conduct choral songs in changing meters
- Is able to conduct the changes in tempo (ritenuto, accelerando, fermata)
