Course aims
To support students in acquiring skills and to gain experience of conducting a choir and performing in front of other students. To introduce choir specific score reading and techniques of piano play.
Brief description of the course
Conducting techniques: Enhancing the skills learnt in the first semester; broken and divided beat. Dynamic gestures: crescendo, diminuendo. Singing voice parts and playing choral scores. Formal analysis and interpretation of songs. Translating lyrics from foreign languages. Working with the repertoires of children’s, female- and male choirs. Independent work with music listed in the course programme.
Learning outcomes in the course
Upon completing the course the student:
- The student can conduct music in different time signatures.
- Is able to play choral scores.
- Can sing the voice parts.
- Is able to independently analyse choral pieces (in writing, orally)
