Course aims
To create the prerequisites for understanding the content and bases of advertising activity both in history and modern science-based approaches to this field, to create prerequisites for understanding various aspects of practical advertising activities and linking them to wider promotion activities.
Brief description of the course
The course provides an overview of several aspects of advertising activity including: advertising and the society, marketing and propaganda activities, advertising process and advertising activities.
Topics covered: Basic principles of advertising theory; brand design and its theoretical foundation; the concept of visual communication and advertising design, the advertising ethics and problems of good practice in advertising.
Learning outcomes in the course
Upon completing the course the student:
- has the holistic overview of the main theories of advertising;
- is able to use specific vocabulary, understands the role of advertising in today’s market economy;
- knows the advertising planning process and the logic of advertising campaigns.
