Course aims

To develop competentce to understand organisational theories about risks, to give systematic overview about different theories of crisis communication, to prepare students to analyze different risk and crisis communication situations through theories

Brief description of the course

The course is an advanced study to risk and crisis communication. Participants will get deep knowledge what is risk and crisis communication from theoretical perspective and how communication theory and risk and crisis communication theories can influence together organisation’s actions. Participants will also learn how to analyze and recognize risks and crisis.

Learning outcomes in the course

Upon completing the course the student:
- understands the concepts and purposes of risk and crisis communication;
- knows the basics of theoretical background and paradigmas;
- has an overview how communication can contribute to managing risks and crises;
- has a grasp how to practice crisis communication abilities and how to measure them.
