Course aims
To support the growth of teachers' self-efficacy and professional capacity in fostering the learning of all students in an inclusive classroom by using deliberate information gathering, reflection, and practice development based on research-based knowledge for instructional adaptation.
Brief description of the course
We engage in analyzing and adapting a learning process that supports learning in an inclusive classroom through practical exercises, based on various contemporary core theories. Aspiring teachers practice cognitive empathy and the willingness to understand learners, engaging in scientific analysis and adjustment of the learning process. The focus of the subject is on the following core practices:
I creating a supportive and inclusive learning environment; consciously and systematically integrating social-emotional learning (SEL) into daily teaching to support everyone's well-being, fostering a positive learning environment and a sense of belonging for learners (building respectful relationships and classroom community); supporting students’ self-assessment and reflective skills;
II principles of adapting teaching in an inclusive classroom (interpreting students' thinking and understanding; monitoring and analyzing learners’ progress; consciously applying evidence-based pedagogy to increase students' engagement and active participation in the learning process; differentiating and accommodating learning by using data-driven decisions and flexible teaching strategies);
III applying research-based knowledge in the development of teaching (consciously collecting data during the learning process and analyzing it for the purpose of adapting and developing the education process; implementing evidence-based pedagogy to support the learning of all students; using action research to develop learning and teaching; the teacher as a learning professional, self-development, capacity to act, and conscious reflection).
