Brief description of the course
Important mental processes, their nature, development and interconnections during learning. Structural and functional constitution of the brain, development and maturation, emergence of functions, basics of neuropsychology in learning, model of cognitive information processing, mental representations and the development of thinking units, functions of memory, executive functions, problem-solving, creativity, development of language and speech, mathematical thinking.
Learning outcomes in the course
Upon completing the course the student:
- has basic knowledge of mental processes, their biological foundations and the principles of assessment which form the basis of learning and development (including the development of general competences);
- is able to detect and analyse the role of different mental processes during learning at different ages (including during the development of general or key competences);
- is able to analyse the developmental needs of learners of different ages based on knowledge of mental processes.
