Course aims
To give an overview of the possibilities of planning, implementing, and assessing study process and designing a study environment in a technology rich environment. To support the skill to counsel colleagues in education technology related issues and plan the development of the implementation of ICT in preschool child care institutions. To give an overview of ICT-related project management elements and the necessity of ICT budgeting.
Brief description of the course
Designing a physical and virtual study environment with technological tools. 21st century learner. Digital security. Creating high-quality study materials. Creating and managing a website. Educational technology research. ICT trends, possibilities to acquire/manage ICT infrastructure, the essence of a development plan, creation and principles, analysis of development plans. Educational technologist’s tasks in a preschool child care institution. Counselling techniques. Teamwork. Planning and organising internal training sessions. Compiling instructions (web-based, on paper).
Learning outcomes in the course
Upon completing the course the student:
- analyses and implements digital tools in designing a study environment, implementing the study process, and planning co-operation with learners, colleagues, parents, and members of the community;
- analyses and makes sense of legality and ethics in digital culture and up-to-date research and working practices for supporting learning with digital tools;
- assesses the role and uses of ICT in child care institutions and plans the technological possibilities of a child are institution, taking into account the future of ICT (development plan of the field);
- counsels the teachers and the management on the issues related to using ICT, planning and organising an ICT-related training and compiling ICT-related guidelines.
