Course aims
To create preconditions for acquiring knowledge about different types
of web resources, on their usage and making them available for
information users.

Brief description of the course
The role of Internet and Web resources in the activities of the public sector and private enterprises. Internet policy and services. Modal and typological diversity of information resources. Web pages, portals, multimedia, databases, repositories, blogs and social networks. Access to web resources: search systems, topic catalogues, bookmarks.
Web content classification, indexing and folksonomy applications. Description of Web sources. Principles of assessment of the scientific, social, cultural and economic value of Web content. Storage and availability of Web content. Creation and development of Web archives.

Learning outcomes in the course
Upon completing the course the student:
- understands the importance of the Internet and Web resources in the information and knowledge management of organizations;
- is able to assess the value of various Web resources for consumers;
- knows the principles of classification of the Web content, its different modes and types;
- is able to analyze the online resources, to select, communicate and archive them.
