Course aims
To create prerequisites for understanding the nature of information architecture and obtaining knowledge about information architecture of web sites.
Brief description of the course
The concept and formation of information architecture. Principles and techniques of information organisation and elaboration of information architecture of the Web. Users’ information needs and Web information behaviour. User-centered approach to content structure and tagging. Principles of navigation and creation of search options.
Learning outcomes in the course
Upon completing the course the student:
- knows the essence of information architecture and the priniciples of its implications on the Web
- understands the pahases of content structuring, tagging, navigation and creation of search options
- is able to analyse, evaluate and recommend the best solutions for Web information architecture
