Course aims
To depict the state of the art in Human-Computer Interactions by critically guiding the student through a selection of recent texts on the subject.
Brief description of the course
Throughout the course students will learn and explore multiple theories and components of trusting technology and its implications in designing safe and trustworthy human-computer interactions. It uses theoretical and empirical examples to emphasise the importance of creating safe and trustworthy human-computer interactions.
Course outline includes four main parts:
- Theories and components of trusting technology from a human-computer interaction approach.
- Current research trends for developing human-centred, trusted, and safe interactions.
- Practical insights on system trustworthiness.
- Designing trustworthy technologies.

Learning outcomes in the course
Upon completing the course the student:
- learns and explores current trends of trusting technology and its implications for designing safe human-computer interactions;
- can identify and critique emerging theories and research trends related to design trustworthy digital systems;
- can apply human–computer trust models to analyse case studies and assess implications for design and evaluation;
- conducts and reports user research recommendations on trust behaviours, applying evidence-based.
