Course aims
To create opportunities for the development of interaction design skills. To support the development of group work and academic writing skills.
Brief description of the course
Introduction to interaction design. Contextual inquiry. Competitive analysis. Personas. Scenario-based design. Involving stakeholders in the participatory design process. Concept maps, site maps and flowcharts. User stories. User interface prototyping: tools and techniques. Creating and testing paper prototypes. Wireframes. High-fidelity prototypes. User interface frameworks. Design patterns and interface guidelines. Usability evaluation methods. Publishing the results of design research.
Learning outcomes in the course
Upon completing the course the student:
- chooses appropriate methods for involving stakeholders in the design process;
- critically evaluates existing applications;
- writes personas, scenarios and user stories;
- creates and tests paper prototypes and high-fidelity prototypes;
- presents the results of design research orally and in written format.
