Course aims
Giving the overview about essence of databases, creating and using them. Two parts. Part one covers data-tables, on the bases of examples of spread sheets and the other part covers the creation of related databases.
Brief description of the course
Concept and structure of data table. Fields and records and creation of appropriate structure.
Tools in spreadsheets for data-tables.
Pivot-table subtotals and consolidated tables.
Functions of database, lookup and references, text and time functions.
Organizing the data on the appropriate form while using the larger datatables, calculated fields.
Essence of related database. Tables, structure, creation, changing. Field, field types, records, relationships.
Inserting the data – forms, creation, designing, sub forms.
Searching the data – inquiring, different types of inquiring. Reports, creation of reports, designing.
Learning outcomes in the course
Upon completing the course the student:
Skills to create data-table, find appropriate structure.
Skills to use necessary functions to create calculated field
Ability to choose appropriate solution for work with data-tables
Knowledge about bases of structure of related databases.
Skills to create related database system and to use it.
