Course aims
The student consolidates knowledge of assessing dietary and exercise habits, methods for inducing change, the counseling process, and uses counseling techniques and motivational interviewing.
Brief description of the course
Nutrition and exercise recommendations at different ages and in case of health disorders (including multicultural environment). Purpose of counseling, assumptions, possibilities, limitations and problems. Individual assessment and analysis of eating and exercise habits. Counseling and intervention methods and process. Evidence-based counseling method motivational interviewing and its use in supporting the client's ability to act.
Learning outcomes in the course
Upon completing the course the student:
- has knowledge of the possibilities and effects of movement, the counselling process and structure,
- assesses individual needs and uses evidence-based tools to define them;
- understands the nature of motivation and the role of the counselor in inducing and supporting change (including in a multicultural environment);
- uses evidence-based counseling methods and data protection principles;
- evaluates the exercise and nutrition counseling process and analyzes oneself as a counselor;
- creates a professional network and values entrepreneurship.
Additional information
"In order to pass the exam, calculated independent works must be submitted by a given deadline.
Accounting independent works:
presentation of the counseling method with the creation and completion of a practical task;
repeated exercise and/or nutrition counseling with audio recording and portfolio creation and presentation;
written self-analysis "I as a counselor".
