Course aims
To develop educational video making skills, to give an overview of film making terminology, storyboarding, camera work, filming, editing and video production, to give an overview of why and how to apply educational videos in the classroom.
Brief description of the course
What is an educational video? Why video in the classroom? Types of educational videos, characteristics, principles of educational video design, filming equipment (video camera, flip camera, etc), film making terminology, camera work, storyboarding, digital storytelling, flipped classroom method, knowledge clips, EPE video (easy-production educational video), how to teach children to make videos, editing with different programs (MovieMaker, iMovie), applying educational video in the classroom: different techniques + pre-, while- and post-viewing activities.
Learning outcomes in the course
Upon completing the course the student:
- knows the principles of educational video design;
- can analyse, plan, film and edit different types of educational videos;
- knows why and how to use educational videos in the classroom.
