Course aims
To provide basic knowledge and skills for creating digital media elements (audio, video, animation) for digital learning resources.
To provide theoretical knowledge and practical skills for designing and creating web pages.

Brief description of the course
Different types of media. Principles of digitalization. Animation: technology, principles, main techniques.
Digital audio recording and processing (Audacity), slidecasts (PhotoStory, Slideshare, Voicethread), podcasting (Podomatic, Audioboo, Vocaroo). Digital video recording and processing. Screencasts (Screencast-o-matic, Jing, Screenr, CamStudio, Camtasia), video in the web (Animoto, Magisto, YouTube, WeVideo), simple web-based animation tools.
Audio and video compression. The principles and technologies of streaming media.
Tools for creating simple webpages. HTML5 and CCS3. The main principles of web design.

Learning outcomes in the course
Upon completing the course the student:
- knows main technologies and tools for creating digital learning resources; can do basic image, sound and movie editing, and publish images, sound and movie clips in the web;
- knows the possibilities and tools for creating simple web-pages, can create webpages using HTML and CSS.
