Course aims
Students will be given an overview of main philosophical traditions in Asia focusing on most important thinkers, schools of thought, and key concepts. The course presents an opportunity to discuss global issues and philosophical questions from the perspective of Asian intellectual traditions.

Brief description of the course
The course will discuss the issue of universality and particularity of philosophical thinking and gives an overview of the background and specific setting of various philosophical traditions. The main focus will be on Chinese and Japanese intellectual traditions and philosophy addressing concepts, theories or questions that are also of contemporary relevance from a global perspective.

Learning outcomes in the course
Upon completing the course the student:
- knows various Asian philosophical traditions;
- is able to use Asian philosophical key concepts in discussing modern issues.
