Course aims
The student distinguishes historical genres and styles in the literature and art; interprets verbal and pictorial texts in the context of their creation and from a contemporary point of view; can do formal and content analysis (i.e. can study text and image from an aesthetic, sociological, psychological point of view). The students develop creativity, cooperation skills and critical thinking through mutual feedback.
Brief description of the course
The specificity of the artistic text and its research (some of the most well-known theorists such as Genette, Büttner, Gottdang, Panofsky); the historical periods and its texts: characteristics, genres, styles, techniques, authors.

The course takes place in the following format:
- lecture-seminars
- individual assignments
- group work
- collaborative project
- joint seminars.
Learning outcomes in the course
Upon completing the course the student:
- can analyze a verbal and/or pictorial text in an argumentative manner according to its genre, style, technique and structure;
- interprets a textual or pictorial message from a sociological and psychological point of view;
- describes the selected fiction text and/or picture in Spanish at a simpler level;
- applies creativity and professional knowledge in individual tasks and project work;
- can give constructive feedback on other student's works.
