Brief description of the course
Francophonic literature in Europe in the 19th and 20th century. Belgium: De Coster, Maeterlinck, Verhaeren, Nougè, Doff, Plisnier, Michaux, Ray, Simenon. Switzerland: Ramuz, Cingria. Luxembourg and Val d'Aosta. Immigrants in France: Makine, Kundera, Todorov, Cioran.
Maghrebian literatures, Literatures of Afrique noire, Middle-East, North-America. Minor French language literatures. Problems: la négritude, metropol versus perifery, traditional versus european, feminism.
Learning outcomes in the course
Upon completing the course the student:
Thorough knowledge of francophonic literature.
