Course aims
To provide basic knowledge of the main political, social, cultural and religious problems in Roman history.
Brief description of the course
the history, political systems, society, everyday life, religion of the ancient Romans (from the beginning of the 1st millenium BC up to the barbarian invasions and the fall of the western part of the Empire lääneosa in the 4th and 5th centuries. Independent work with literature on the themes and in the forms agreed with the lecturer.
Learning outcomes in the course
Upon completing the course the student:
Capacity to demonstrate basic knowledge of Roman history and culture.
Capacity to orientate in the current problems of study of the domain.
Ability to see the different possibilities of the interpretation of the sources.
