Course aims

To develop the skills to independently edit longer texts; use various types of language resources, databases, and other reference materials when editing; analyze the need for editing, the corrections made, and the principles behind them.

Brief description of the course

The course focuses on independent linguistic editing of cohesive texts. Students select and edit a longer text, analyzing its linguistic quality and editing needs and systematically applying language resources, databases, and other supporting materials. The course involves reflecting on the corrections made, their justification, and the editing principles used. The work is mainly done independently, with guidance and discussions.

Learning outcomes in the course

Upon completing the course the student:
- is able to analyze the need for text editing;
- has skills for editing the text linguistically and conceptually;
- is informed about and capable of using language editing support materials;
- is able to analyze and justify the corrections made.
