Course aims
The aim of this course is to present law, its content and structure, different ways of law recognition, theories and methodologies and to give an opportunity of their in-depth study.
Brief description of the course
This course gives an in-depth view of contemporary legal thinking in the Continental European as well as Anglo-American legal culture. Different takes on contemporary law, legal theories and legal methodologies are discussed.
Learning outcomes in the course
Upon completing the course the student:
- has in-depth knowledge of the role of contemporary law and legal theoretical thinking in the context of Continental European and Anglo-American legal culture;
- has in-depth knowledge and skills to orientate in contemporary law, legal theories, terms and methods;
- is able to argumentatively discuss the topics of main legal problems, the general principles and norms and their application in the legal system;
- understands legal texts and can use the methods of law in the legal judgment and application to a situation;
- appreciates independent legal thinking, main principles of law and can make study-related choices according to personal interests.
