Course aims
Discussing the development of Estonian architecture and pictorial art from the 17th to 19th centuries in the context of its economical and socio-cultural background.
Brief description of the course
The artifacts are analyzed in the context of the artists who created them, the creative environment, patronage, distribution etc. The course also discusses the reflections of European influences, the nature and intensity of the contacts, similarities and differences, national versus international, as well as the social factors relevant to the birth and understanding of an artifact.
Learning outcomes in the course
Upon completing the course the student:
