Course aims

1. Connect with previous teaching experience and acquired knowledge of school reality
2. Support the student development as a subject teacher and class teacher,
3. Support students' ability to communicate with students and colleagues as a teacher and the development of a comprehensive professional role.
4. To support the student in planning their own professional development

Brief description of the course

Work in upper secondary school as a teacher of history and civics During the practice, the student observes, and gives the necessary number of lessons at the school.
Developing the skills of independent work as a teacher of history and civics in upper secondary school.
Developing analytical and self-reflection skills.
Applying the methodology and principles of educational work in real school life.
Getting to know the practical outputs and principles of teaching history and civics.
Planning and caring out at least one subject event (excursion, study trip, etc.)
During the traineeship, he/she acts as form master of one class, conducting one extra-curricular event (can be combined with a subject event). Creates a practice portfolio what includes self-analysis, which has been prepared after the practice.

Learning outcomes in the course

Upon completing the course the student:
- is able to take into account in the planning of the learning process the goals of education, national and school curricula, creating links between different subjects and subject areas;
- can use the knowledge, vocabulary and methods relevant to the learner's ability and age;
- can analyse the learning and education process and its activities according to the planned goals and basic documents, is able to plan further activities accordingly, takes into account requirements when developing the portfolio;
- follows the rules of politeness and traditions of school, guided by teaching ethics, cooperating with supervisors and other people in school and university.
