Course aims
Overview of 20th century history and the problems encountered when researching it.
Brief description of the course
20th century world. Science, technology, culture, education, population. The most important countries, their internal and foreign policies. The world between two great wars. Totalitarianism – Stalin, Hitler, Mussolini – and Western democracy. Second World War and formation of two world systems. International relations in 1945-2000. The world on the brink of the 21st century.
Learning outcomes in the course
Upon completing the course the student:
After the course the student will be able to understand and describe the main features of the development of the modern world. He/she can define the main problems of the period and understands main facts of the topic without major mistakes. The student is able to review related literature on basic level.
