Course aims

To give students knowledge of human development, health dependence of heredity, life style and environment. Stundents learn the reasons and symptoms of more freguently occuring diseases, their preventation and first aid for teaching their speciality. Students get the know-how of the first aid for dangerous conditions and poisonings.

Brief description of the course

Discussion of man s life circle, development and functions of organs. Importance of the health. Overweight, health and diseases. The basis of preventing illnesses. Right nutrition to prevent diseases. The influence of physical activity on the organism and on strengthening health. The importance of strength, skilfulness and flexibility on preventing diseases and injuries. Rehabilitation and motive-treatment. Practical exercises for preventing and treating injuries and diseases. Cardiac – bloodstream and blood diseases. Motive-treatment and physical activity of various diseases. Diseases of the respiratory system. Digestive diseases and urinary – excretion system diseases. Preventing diseases. Support – injuries of the motive instrument. Motive- treatment in preventing and treating injuries. Important skin diseases, venereal diseases, excretion system diseases, nervous system diseases.

Learning outcomes in the course

Upon completing the course the student:
- understands life style, environment, medical care and heredity influences on overall health;
- knows about prevention;
- knows how to provide first aid in case of an emergency.
