Course aims
Supporting the acquisition of theoretical approaches, practical skills and applications of methodology from the angle of the physical and mental preparation of the professional sport as well as that of the amateur sport.
Brief description of the course
The categorization of sport events based on their content, their comparative analysis and the future trends. The performance of Estonian top athletes, the performance analysis over the recent years.
Training loads, fatigue, recovery in sport.
The basics of planning the training.
The content and methods of the technical, tactical, psychological, functional preparation.
The theories and methodology of developing the physical capabilities – force, suppleness, speed, stamina, dexterity.
The problems of choice in training.
Testing and controlling of training efficiency in professional sports.
Competition analysis in professional sports.
New technologies and scientific support in the process of training.
Independent work: working on compulsory course materials, compiling a folder of materials and making a presentation based on it.
Learning outcomes in the course
Upon completing the course the student:
- has acquired a clear and sufficiently thorough understanding of sport training theories and theoreticians;
- is able to analyse the discussion on the sport training;
- is able to apply theoretical perspectives to the vital and minor problems of real life and sport connected with the training process;
- is capable of communicating clearly orally as well as in writing.
