Course aims

Create preconditions for noticing and understanding a child in crisis and for the provision of appropriate help.

Brief description of the course

The peculiarities of child’s crisis and principles of helping when working with a child in crisis. Different traumatising situations are analysed like: illness, losing a loved-one, disability, parents’ alcoholism or violence, parents’ divorce, separation from parents, school violence, etc.

Learning outcomes in the course

Upon completing the course the student:
- has knowledge of the features of a crisis in a child’s life and factors that cause it;
- is able to spot a child in crisis and to support him/her.
