Course aims

Translated text genre determination of the specific types of translation skills of teaching and the teaching of the use of text, depending on the genre.

Brief description of the course

The text types and genres: journalistic, general and administrative relevance, scientific-technical, fiction, etc. The content, form, style, register. The text and its definition of the function. Contrastive analysis. Awareness of the special features of the source and target language. Translation as a process. Translation Methodology. Tõlkimiseelne and tõlkimisjärgne work. Text preparatory, grammatical, semantic, stylistic and pragmatic analysis. Translation of the strategy and the choice of language translation tools purpose of the language situation, the user / addressee basis. Translation Exercises simple texts. Approach to the problems encountered when translating and interpreting rationale. Text Coherence. The adequacy of the translation. Parallel Texts. Translation Criticism.

Learning outcomes in the course

Upon completing the course the student:
- knows the basic techniques of translation of different genres and degrees of severity.
