Course aims
During the course students get an idea of what editing is and how to edit a journalistic text. Students obtain both theoretical and practical knowledge in editing.
Brief description of the course
Types of editing procedures, the logic of editing, the meaning of a text. The work of an editor from a stylistic perspective; assessment criteria; communicational errors and the ways to correct them. The ethical side of editing. Readers interests and the ways to understand them (subject title - the opening sentence). Students are given texts for training purposes and write tests to check their progress in theory. Students also analyze independently published texts.
Learning outcomes in the course
Upon completing the course the student:
By the end of the course students get theoretical and practical editing skills.
