Course aims
To develop basic understanding of the operation of contemporary state and democratic political system.
To develop basic competences for handling state and democracy in writing bachelor thesis.
Brief description of the course
Introduction, launching the course. The state: concept and historical development. Basic parameters and operating mechanisms of contemporary statehood. Democracy: concept and main approaches. Democratic political systems: basic parameters. Liberal democratic statehood, europeanisation and globalisation.
Student independent work includes studying the course materials and preparing for examination and/or writing the final essay.
Learning outcomes in the course
Upon completing the course the student:
- has basic understanding of the operation of contemporary state and democratic political system;
- has basic competences for handling state and democracy in writing bachelor thesis.
