Course aims

To introduce the basics of foreign policy analysis and the foreign policies of different countries.

Brief description of the course

The course starts with the basics of foreign policy analysis and then continues with an overview of the foreign policies of different countries. Among others: Estonia and the Baltic States, USA, Russia, Germany, UK, France, China, India, Japan, Brazil and many other countries. The course consists of lectures and online seminars. The course ends with a written paper about one country’s foreign policy. The course is taught in Estonian but in agreement with the lecturer can be passed in English as well.

Learning outcomes in the course

Upon completing the course the student:
The student will know the basics of foreign policy development and is familiar with the foreign policy of most big states and those states important to Estonia.
