Course aims

• Provide a systematic overview of the principles and development of public sector management;
• Introduce various perspectives related to public management;
• Acquire basic terminology of public management;
• Establish a foundation for completing a research seminar and writing a thesis in the field of public managemen

Brief description of the course

The course examines the principles and management practices of public administration. Topics include strategic planning, public sector innovation, punblic sector reforms and crisis management. Also, the course covers the public and private sector partnerships and competencies. The purpose of the subject is to provide knowledge and skills for working in the public sector or with the public sector, and to complete a public management research seminar and write a thesis.

The assignments in seminars are solved both individually and in groups.

Learning outcomes in the course

Upon completing the course the student:
- has a systematic overview about public sector management and its principles;
- is capable of solving simpler problems in the main areas of public management;
- knows professional terminology at a basic level.
