Course aims
To enable the acquisition of a systematic overview and deepened knowledge of electromagnetism as the basis of physics;
To enable the development of the skill of solving problems related to electromagnetism;
To enable the development of an integrated physical world-view;
To develop the skill to explain natural phenomena while relying on the laws of physics
Brief description of the course
Electric field in a vacuum and in dielectrics, conductors in an electric field. The principles of direct current. Magnetic field both in a vacuum and in a matter, and the magnetic properties of matters. Electromagnetic induction and related phenomena: the movement of charged particles in an electric and magnetic field, electric oscillations and electromagnetic field.
Learning outcomes in the course
Upon completing the course the student:
- knows the laws of electric current and can apply them while solving problem exercises;
- knows the main principles of electromagnetism, and can apply them while describing and explaining electric and magnetic phenomena;
- can apply the laws of electromagnetism while solving problem exercises;
- can link the theory of electromagnetism with phenomena occurring in everyday life;
- understands the position and applicability of electromagnetism in modern technology.
