Course aims
To promote the development of knowledges necessary for the understanding the processes taking place in plants (assimilation, dissimilation, anabolism, catabolism).
Brief description of the course
Course on the functioning of the plant organism and basic life processes, regulation, membrane, trophic, hormonal and environmental levels, adaptation to various ecological factors. Main topics: plant cell structure, chemical composition of plants, water exchange, mineral nutrition, photosynthesis, respiration, growth and development, specific features of moss physiology, growth regulators, stress physiology.
Learning outcomes in the course
Upon completing the course the student:
- has basic knowledge of plant physiology and is able to describe the main physiological processes occurring in plants;
- can describe the specific physiological processes of taxonomic plant groups;
- can create connections between physiological processes of plants and ecological factors;
- can prepare a presentation and illustrative diagram on a selected narrow topic and argue about them.
