Brief description of the course

The course is intended for students who have attained an A2 level of proficiency in Spanish. Achieving the learning outcomes requires active participation and conscious planning of one's language learning. Practice of the vocabulary and grammar introduced during contact sessions is carried out primarily through independent study. In class, exercises are corrected collaboratively, and acquired knowledge is applied to develop oral expression and produce written texts without the use of artificial intelligence. The course covers vocabulary and grammar, including the conditional mood, enabling students to describe past and future events, experiences, facts, opinions, dreams, assumptions, and goals. Students learn to explore and mediate cultural and social topics as well as authentic real-life texts by summarising, paraphrasing, and presenting information. Self-reflection as a language learner is conducted in Spanish. The course provides the foundation for attaining B1-level proficiency in Spanish, as defined by the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR), across all language skills: listening, speaking, reading, and writing. It also creates opportunities to apply acquired knowledge in both written and oral communication and develops the ability to set objectives, plan, and reflect on one's own language learning.

Learning outcomes in the course

Upon completing the course the student:
- mediates texts on social and cultural topics;
- infers the meaning of unfamiliar words from context, identifies synonyms, and defines words;
- applies acquired vocabulary and grammar in communication;
- describes events, experiences, dreams, goals, and opinions;
- uses acquired vocabulary and grammar in writing without the use of artificial intelligence;
- consciously plans their own language learning.
