Course aims
The students acquire French A2 level as it is described in the Common European Framework for languages, p. 48. The enrollment to the course is advised for students whose previous level of French is at least on level A1.
Brief description of the course
Grammar: indicative and conditional mode is studied. Articles, possessive adjectives are studied in depth. The course creates opportunities to develop learning strategies to have a systematic approach to remember and develop personal vocabulary individually.
Reading and listening skills are developed by exploiting informative texts and audiovisual material about French-speaking cultural space. Texts are mainly about experiences and descriptive. Individual reading assignments are used to develop understanding of excerpts.
In written and oral production, students learn to describe events or individuals in a specific context they are familiar with. Language registers are studied in order to learn to distinguish between polite and familiar ways of expressing oneself.
Learning outcomes in the course
Upon completing the course the student:
- is able to to recognize and produce texts with grammatical forms in written and oral texts, use the vocabulary acquired;
- is able to understand a short listening comprehension text on a familiar topic, understand short, descriptive and factual texts;
- is able to express a short opinion on a text;
- is able to use the aforementioned grammatical forms in every-day communicative situations, if the conversation partner is willing to help and ask questions;
- can respond with full sentences.
