Course aims

The aim of the course is to acquire the European language skills level B2+ (upper-intermediate), which enables social communication concerning the speciality, at the same time considering the respective cultural background.

Brief description of the course

The intergrated development of all four skills (listening, speaking, reading and writing) guided by the B2 scale of European language skills levels.

The analysis of the content and language structures of texts. Exercises analysing grammar difficulties. Grammar elements in texts and their analysis. Text reception and production. Forms of presenting written texts: story, description, discussion. Writing fictional texts and argumentative essays. Text analysis and interpretation. Vocabulary enhancement. Simplification and reconstruction of texts. Parafrasing. Progression and subdivision of texts.

Learning outcomes in the course

Upon completing the course the student:
- acquires the knowledge and skills which are in accordance with the European B2+ language level scale;
- can analyse the structure, content and language of texts;
- can write argumentative essays, express and support their opinions in writing and in speech.
