Course aims

To introduce the principles and tools of visual communication. To give an overview of basic knowledge and practical tools for using typography in a moving image.

Brief description of the course

A brief overview of the history of graphic design in Estonia. The role of graphic design in visual communication. Typography and composition in a moving image. Create storytelling through graphic designs. Creation of audiovisual compositions.

Learning outcomes in the course

Upon completing the course the student:
- has an overview of the shaping of graphic design and it's history;
- has an overview of the purposes of the graphic design;
- knows the widespread font types and knows how to use them in the design process;
- acquires basic knowledge of Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop and After Effects;
- is able to create animated graphic compositions.
