Course aims
To introduce the students to the essence of sound, principles of sound recording, opportunities in digital sound processing and practical helpful tools, theoretical basics to the film sound recording and practical working tools.
Brief description of the course
Overview of audiovisual works. Theoretical bases of sound. Sound and effects processors. Sound positioning in audiovisual art (stereo, DOLBY Surround). Synchronizing of visual and audio. Sounding dynamics. Collusion. Independent work: formatting the final result.
Learning outcomes in the course
Upon completing the course the student:
- is familiar with the theoretical bases of sound design and sound engineering,
- knows the nature of effects and dynamics processors and is able to use them at a basic level,
- knows the importance of timbres in mixing visual sound and is able to use them at a basic level,
- is able to use sound and visual synchronization techniques,
- is familiar with the principles of sound positioning,
- knows the principles of visual mixing,
- can convert his sounded movie to a suitable format.
