Course aims
To shape and to develop in-depth knowledge and skills related to vocal technique.
Brief description of the course
The student develops and reinforces the basis of the vocal technique and continues working on breathing, use of the resonation system and extending the voice range. The main stress is on musical expression. Develops the skills of independent work. Develops knowledge about factors detrimental to the own voice. Independent work: Student prepares independently for lessons songs and vocalise according to music notation. Follows the correct rhythm. Know and understand the meaning of the lyrics (according to chosen repertoire in Estonian, Italian, German, French or Russian language). Class attendance required.
Learning outcomes in the course
Upon completing the course the student:
Is familiar with the voice apparatus and its functioning principles. Knows how to use the voice in different registers and how to direct it according to the principal requirements of vocal technique. Is familiar with the singers’ breathing technique and uses it in the repertoire undertaken. Performs three art songs at the school concert according to the requirements of vocal technique.
