Course aims
To increase the knowledge of vocal physiology. To improve the skills in vocal technique and voice production. To broaden the vocal range.
Brief description of the course
The student acquires further knowledge and skills in breathing, the use of resonation system and clear enunciation via appropriate exercises and repertoire. Developing of basic vocal knowledge in the middle register. Develops knowledge about factors detrimental to the voice.Independent work: Student prepares independently for lessons songs and vocalise according to music notation. Follows the correct rhythm. Know and understand the meaning of the lyrics (according to chosen repertoire in Estonian, Italian, German, French or Russian language).Class attendance required.
Learning outcomes in the course
Upon completing the course the student:
Is familiar with the voice apparatus and its functioning principles. Knows how create the voice in the middle register and how to direct it according to the primary requirements of vocal discipline. Is familiar with the singer’s principles of breathing and tries to apply them in the repertoire undertaken in class.The student performs three pieces at the school concert according to the requirements of vocal technique.1. Vocalise 2. Aria or song (classical)3. Folksong (Estonian folksong recommended) or children’s song
