Course aims
To support students in conducting a more demanding repertoire in front of a choir. To introduce techniques for playing more complicated choral songs on the piano.
Brief description of the course
Conducting techniques: Enhancing skills acquired during the third semester; broken and divided beat. Conducting combined- and changing meters. Conducting various tempos, agogics and dynamics. Conducting tuplet, syncopation. Gestures using both hands. Singing voice parts and playing choral scores. Basic and formal analysis and interpretation of songs. Recognising different musical styles when conducting. Student’s work with five different choral songs.
Learning outcomes in the course
Upon completing the course the student:
- The student can conduct music in combined- and changing meters.
- Is able to conduct changes in tempo, dynamics and agogics.
