Course aims
Research and reflection on contemporary dance practice and composition.
Developing own artistic practice and dance technical skills.
Brief description of the course
The course is based on Roosna & Flak's Responsive Body Practice. The aim is to develop attention,
mobility, strength, coordination, an adaptive center, as well as awareness of rythm and space.
We practice fundamental movement patterns in order to bring attention to functional connections within
the body. This leads to exploration of more complex tasks and movement combinations.
Process based study requires consistent participation in the classes: minimum 80% attendance to qualify
for the exam.
Other requirements: presenting a videotask; reflecting on own artistic practice through the writing of an individual journal. Presenting a written self-
analysis.
Learning outcomes in the course
Upon completing the course the student:
- has acquired tools to participate actively in a creative process as a dancer;
- has functional and practical anatomical awareness and knowledge of how to apply it;
- is able to develop own artistic practice from this dance technical base.
