Course aims
To offer collective practical creative work through which students gain experience in integrating different art forms, fields of human activity and technology, while also becoming familiar with important examples, creators and works from the history of video, performance, sound and media art.
Brief description of the course
The course centres on performance as a key concept connecting different arts and technology. Students become familiar with various forms of expression and examples from world and Estonian art, generate ideas, find suitable artistic forms, invent and test forms of collaboration and create a coherent whole. Practical group work is presented at the end of the course in a shared performance evening, followed by critical analysis, peer feedback and discussion.
Learning outcomes in the course
Upon completing the course the student:
- knows different forms and principles of integrative art;
- knows and can analyse the works of notable artists in video, performance, sound and media art;
- goes through the collaborative creation process of a performance artwork that culminates in a publicly presented joint performance announced via social media.
