Course aims
The purpose is to provide opportunities for acquiring basic drawing skills and prerequisites for further development; and to learn to use these skills and competencies in art teaching classes in school.
Brief description of the course
Understanding the basics of drawing - still-life compositions: variety of drawing tools; picture composition; spatial issues; analysis of proportion and perspective; the effects of light and shadow; brightness, gradation and contrast; depiction of various textures and materials.
Introductory work to depict human head and portrait: drawing the skull; stylized/faceted skull/head; anatomy of human head and details of the face (plaster details); composition and expressiveness – drawing male and female portrait.
Still life and portrait in the context of art teaching in school.
Independent work – portfolio (sketches of arms and legs/feet).
Learning outcomes in the course
Upon completing the course the student:
Is acquinted with the basics of drawing;
Is able to decipt space and form of objects;
Is able to decipt various textures and materials;
Is able to decipt the proportions of human head and capture character;
Has knowledge of how to use still-life and portray as a theme in art lessons in school.
