Course aims
Give an overview of
* the content of school readiness, its various aspects;
* learning and developing readiness for learning in pre-school age.
Get to know 1st grade students
* and their teacher's activities during the first weeks of school;
* adaptation to targeted learning activities.
Brief description of the course
Auditory work:
The meaning and different aspects of school readiness, the definition of school readiness. Development of readiness to learn. The smooth transition of a child from kindergarten to school: the importance of kindergarten and home cooperation. The aim and tasks of the first level of basic school. Leading a child from playful activities to understanding more active activities. Acquisition of knowledge at the first school level. Creating a basis for learning skills. The difference between the child's and adult's worldview, structuring. The role of school in changing the structure of the worldview.

Internship:
Getting acquainted with the activities of the group of kindergarten trainers and the work organization of the internship school. Teacher in organizing 1st grade teaching. Participating in and conducting the first day of school. Observation of 1st grade students and interpretation, description and analysis of what is seen. Participation in the final seminar and summarizing the practice.
Learning outcomes in the course
Upon completing the course the student:
- is familiar with the peculiarities of the national curriculum and teaching of pre-school child care institutions, which create preconditions for the smooth transition of a child from kindergarten to school;
- is able to define the child's level of school readiness and is able to ensure a smooth transition of the child from kindergarten to school;
- knows the peculiarities of the organization of 1st grade studies;
- monitors and analyzes the adaptation of 1st grade students to school and the development of cooperation skills.

GRADING CRITERIA

1) Completion of observation tables:
In the summary of the observation hours, the observation table has been filled in according to the observation task and the analysis of the written phenomenon has been written, based on the obligatory literature read; own experience as a learner is included. Observation table 1 is completed once a month. A total of two observation tables 1 have been completed. Observation table 2 has been completed throughout the placement. A summary table is provided at the end of the internship. All observation tables have been submitted on 8.11.2019.

2) Organization and analysis of the study day / outdoor study day / class evening:
The student analyzes the conduct of the study day / class evening on the basis of his / her prepared written plan. The analysis describes the activities of the study day / classroom and gives an assessment of their success, adding illustrative examples of the students' activities. The analysis is based on the required literature.

3) Analytical summary of 1st class practice experience:
In summary, the following aspects are highlighted:
 what you learned from observing the teacher's work,
 How the cooperation with students went:
* the surprises and positive experiences you learned from them, which you consider necessary to use as a teacher in the future;
* any pedagogical / psychological problems you have encountered, what useful lessons have you learned from them, how did you cope with them yourself;
 contact with parents that you experienced and learned from these meetings yourself;
 what to keep in mind when starting a 1st grade job;
 how to conduct the 1st school day, what should be told to the children, show what to do together;
 what learning tasks you set for yourself based on your internship experience.
