Course aims
"Analysis of Religious Processes" is a course that addresses various topics in the study of religion. The specific topic changes each academic year. In the 2024/25 academic year, the course aims to provide an overview of Early Christianity as a religious movement within the Roman Empire.
Brief description of the course
The course focuses on a specific topic related to the lecturer's research areas. The topics change each academic year. This academic year, the theme is Early Christianity.
Early Christianity originated in the 30s CE as a reform movement within the religion of Israel, eventually developing into an independent religion over the course of the 1st century. The course examines the history, worldview, and role of Early Christianity within Roman society and the religious history of the Roman Empire.
The majority of the course consists of lectures. In addition to the lectures, seminars are held, which are based on oral presentations of written reports about texts agreed upon with the lecturer. These seminars involve collective discussions of issues related to the topics.
Students are required to work through the textbook, read the distributed texts provided by the lecturer during the course, and prepare and deliver three short presentations in class, which will be discussed during the seminars.

- has the knowledge of the history of Early Christianity and can relate Early Christianity to other movements that emerged within the religion of Israel;
- is familiar with the sources and key figures of Early Christianity;
