Course aims

To prepare students for writing a research paper, reading, resuming and analysing contemporary theories and research methods.

Brief description of the course

The course takes place in the form of seminars. For every seminar students read and resume some theoretical texts from different fields of human sciences. Every student has an oportunity at least once during the semester to guide the analysing process in the classroom.

Learning outcomes in the course

Upon completing the course the student:
- has knowledge about several theories in different fields of human sciences (literature, film, linguistics, translation, etc.);
- has knowledge about most important research methods in the field of humanities;
- has ability to work individually with theoretical texts needed for writing the research paper;
- has capacity to orientate in the academic register of French/Italian/Spanish as well as of the Estonian language.
