Course aims
The objective of the course is to provide the students with an ability to analyse theatre as a form of art and to give an overview of the most important movements in Spanish teatre, especially those of the 20th and 21st centuries.
Brief description of the course
Introduction. Drama theory and elements of analysis. Theatre semiotics. An overview of the history of Spanish theatre: medieval performances, baroque theatre, neoclassicism, the 19th-century theatre. The movements of theatre in the 20th and the 21st centuries.
Learning outcomes in the course
Upon completing the course the student:
Systematical knowledge on contemporary Spanish theatre and its movements.
The ability to evaluate the situation of Spanish theatre from a historical perspective.
