Course aims
The course gives an overview of the most important moments in the history of Spain.
Brief description of the course
Prehistory, pre-Roman peoples and the Roman Empire. Middle Ages: visigohts, muslim Spain (711-1492) and Reconquista. Modern history: the Habsburg Empire. The War of Spanish Succession and the Bourbon Dynasty. Enlightenment ideas.
Learning outcomes in the course
Upon completing the course the student:
Capacity to acquire basic knowleadge on Spanish history's main periods since the prehistory til 1808. Capacity to aknowleadge, analyse and relate Spanish history as part of European history and cultural heritage and the historical legacy's importance in Spanish society today.
